Belek: a modern resort and everything has been designed with the holidaymaker in mind. Most of the hotels lead down to the beach, a vast expanse of golden sand, which stretches in both directions as far as the eye, can see. It’s the perfect place to spend long lazy days topping up your tan.
Activities to enjoy include:
- Horse riding and golf, and the National Golf Club is one of four golf clubs situated here.
- Skiing in the Toros Mountains.
- Bordered by pine forests, this stretch of coastline is a nesting ground for the loggerhead turtle and the lesser-known green turtle, but you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled if you want to catch a glimpse.
- A cruise up the Manavgat River provides a further opportunity to enjoy wildlife and can be combined with a trip to the Manavgat waterfalls and market.
- Close to the resort are the ruins of two ancient cities - Perge with its Hellenistic gates and fine stadium, and Aspendos, famous for its magnificent amphi-theatre. It hosts an opera and ballet festival every June and the acoustics are so good, it is said that if you drop a coin in the centre of the arena you can hear it from the top row.
- Plus Belek shops are very good and offer a range of gifts, clothes, leather goods and souvenirs.
